Not so complex - nuntium centesimum nonagesimum et tertium

I'm going to persist with the tealights for at least the next show.  I think they look great and they just aren't that hard to make.  It's a simple motif and then I just put the tealight "through" it.

Plus I get to do split chains.  I love them!

  1. How neat! Hmmm, I might have to steal your idea, but it will probably be for Christmas gifts instead of selling them. I don't have time to make any of them :-)

  2. I do like the tatted tea lights, do you sell them with the free light? I've seen a few different patterns and like them all.

  4. Beyond me why these didn't sell! Maybe your price was too high? I leaned as a real estate agent, anything will sell at the right price..... Just wondering... : )

    1. Well, $10 including the light. What do you think? I'm going to to try it again at the next one and then if it doesn't work, drop to $8. Opinions?

  7. This is my first chance to respond! Thanks for the photo! Really lovely motif, and it is a lot of tatting, well worth $10, but you may have to drop it to $8. Unfortunately people do not understand how much time it takes to make tatted items, compared to crocheting. Do you also demonstrate tatting at your table?
Sometimes that helps to clue them in to the intricacy of tatting!

There is quite a saga to these candles. I asked at the store and they said that they are made only for Michaels and that Michaels has an affiliation with the company named on the box. However, there is a 'gift catalog' on the internet under that company's name, but it doesn't seem to have these particular metallic candles listed, and at the bottom of the catalog page they say they don't sell to Michaels! (Why would they think it's necessary to make that statement?) Yet Michaels has other items under this same name, which are similar to those in this catalog! I really can't figure this out, and Michaels personnel said it might be another company with the same name. Really? Too confusing!

But at least Michaels has these tea lights (near the bridal section), plus there is another box in another area of the store that includes two sizes of these metallic tea lights - 'normal' size and also taller ones - which are sold only for Christmas and are 40% off at the moment! I don't think I'll ever understand the retail world! But these metallic tea lights are so elegant and unlike any others out there. I wonder how long they will be available! I don't necessarily plan to have tatting around them, but might add other decorations and give them as gifts. I did notice that one needs a tiny screwdriver to change the battery! It doesn't just pop out, as in my other tea lights.

    1. Isn't that interesting? So purposeful about saying they don't sell to Michaels! I was able to get some silver ones this weekend at Michaels and looked at the larger but decided they weren't for me. But thinking about wedding decorations, wouldn't that be something?
